A lesson with Maria is as individual as her students. Maria’s professionalism and expert teaching skills, in combination with her warm and welcoming personality, make learning Greek so much fun. I leave each session feeling elated and already full of enthusiasm for my next tutorial.

My lessons with Maria enable me to face people in my village in Crete with some confidence. I am now the recipient of the gossip, so it has got around that I understand. Maria expects the best from me and that ensures that I study the best I can. Her attractive personality as a teacher always makes this an enjoyable experience.

When I met Maria, I had been learning Modern Greek for three years but had stopped progressing. I wanted to be able to converse in everyday language, to watch TV and movies, and to read newspapers and books but I was stuck in 'Exercise Book' Greek and, not being surrounded by native speakers, I couldn't see how to move forward. Maria quickly helped me clarify my goals and understand my strengths and weaknesses. Importantly, she understood how best to use our limited face-to-face time (one hour per week) effectively, not simply to 'do the exercises'. Eighteen months later I just returned from a week in Crete where I spoke, listened to, and thought in (almost...), Greek alone. I'm proud to be able to write, finally, 'Good knowledge of Modern Greek' on my resume, and mean it!
Maria is a highly professional teacher - clear, organised, perceptive and inspiring. She is one of the rare few who can make learning an enjoyable experience, and make difficult goals reachable.
